Catshill Congress - School Council

Catshill Congress is our pupil leadership group, bringing together voices from across the school to help shape life at CMS. Through our Wellbeing, Eco, Digital, Enrichment and Learning councils, pupils work collaboratively to support others, improve our environment, enhance learning experiences and ensure everyone feels happy, safe and included. Catshill Congress empowers pupils to make a real difference and play an active role in creating a positive school community.

LEARNING COUNCIL

We have worked together to evaluate the teaching and learning that takes place by discussing the strengths and areas for development across the whole school. We will be meeting regularly with the senior leadership team to give feedback and discuss next steps to improve learning for all pupils.

The learning council will also work with other Catshill Congress groups to see how the Catshill Congress as a whole can impact pupils’ learning at CMS.

ENRICHMENT COUNCIL

We have conducted a pupil survey to find out what clubs pupils would like to have, when they would like clubs to run and what might stop them from joining clubs. The impact of this... some new lunchtime clubs have launched this half-term and more are being planned for next half-term!

Year 8 Enrichment Council also helped to organise and lead our Santa Dash event that took place before Christmas.

WELLBEING COUNCIL

We have taken part in ‘Wellbeing Champions’ training to learn more about how to support others with their mental health and wellbeing.

We will be delivering assemblies, creating displays and organising wellbeing events to raise awareness of positive mental health for all. We are also helping to shape the schools safeguarding policy for pupils and our new Nurture vision.

DIGITAL COUNCIL

We have taken responsibility for organising the chromebook trolleys in school, ensuring all chromebooks are organised, charged and where they should be for learning throughout the school day. We have ensured that the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is fit for purpose and visible to all pupils when they log into a school computer.

This term digital council are aiming to raise money for the PTA to get another display TV in school and are looking to build an online safety page for pupils on the website.

ECO COUNCIL

We have had a positive impact, supporting the school with litter picking and advising on better litter bins for the playground. We have started an eco-club that takes place on a weekly basis to work towards making our school sustainable in line with the school's sustainability plan.

We will also be helping to look after our green spaces around school.
