Religous Education
At Catshill Middle School, our Religious Education curriculum helps pupils to develop a deep understanding of a wide range of religions and worldviews, recognising their significance in local, national, and global contexts.
Through engaging lessons, discussions, and enquiry-based learning, pupils explore diverse beliefs, values, and traditions, using key vocabulary and evidence to think critically, reflectively, and respectfully about the world around them.
We encourage pupils to be curious and open-minded, asking thoughtful questions and exploring challenging ideas about belief, morality, and human experience. They learn to express their own views clearly and with confidence, using reasoned arguments and examples to support their ideas.
At Catshill Middle School, Religious Education is not only about acquiring knowledge — it is also about personal growth and understanding. Pupils are supported to develop their own sense of identity and worldview, learning how to live thoughtfully, respectfully, and compassionately alongside others in a diverse society.
Our Approach Enables Pupils To:
-
Make sense of a range of religious and non-religious worldviews.
-
Understand the impact and significance of these beliefs on individuals, families, and communities.
-
Make connections between key ideas, practices, and values across different faiths and cultures.
Through this learning, pupils come to see how beliefs influence values, actions, and global events. They develop the skills to analyse, interpret, and evaluate what they study, forming well-reasoned, respectful opinions about the complex and diverse world of faith and belief.
Our RE curriculum plays a vital role in promoting British Values, spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development, and mutual respect — preparing pupils to contribute positively to life in modern Britain and the wider world.

In line with one of our federation's core values – aspiration – we aim to develop possibilities for all! We want children to have no limits to what their ambitions are, aspiring to be:
