Computing
At Catshill Middle School, we recognise that in an ever-advancing world of technological innovation it is paramount that our high-quality computing curriculum equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world in which they live.
Computing is so much more than just learning to use a computer — it’s about sparking creativity, problem-solving, and preparing pupils for the digital world around them. From Year 5 to Year 8, pupils build their knowledge and confidence step by step, developing essential skills that will serve them throughout their education and beyond.
Our project-based approach makes learning hands-on and exciting. Pupils don’t just learn about technology — they create with it! Whether they’re designing websites, building 3D models, crafting digital artwork, or coding their own apps and games, every project encourages imagination, curiosity, and independence.
As they progress through Key Stage 3, pupils become skilled and confident digital thinkers. They learn to design, test, and debug their own programs while developing teamwork, resilience, and creativity.
Each child keeps an ePortfolio that captures their personal learning journey — a space to celebrate their achievements, track their growth, and reflect on how far they’ve come.
Our dedicated Computing Suite provides pupils with access to modern desktop computers and a wide range of creative software. It’s a place where ideas come to life, where pupils experiment, innovate, and gain the digital confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.

In line with one of our federation's core values – aspiration – we aim to develop possibilities for all! We want children to have no limits to what their ambitions are, aspiring to be:
Computer Programmers,-
Engineers,
-
Cybersecurity Experts,
-
Web & App Designers,
- Technicians…. and so much more!
