Catering Info

The school is fortunate in having its own kitchen and a high standard of meals is produced by Shire Services Ltd., a private catering firm. The school hall becomes the dining hall for the lunch period and meals are served cafeteria style because of the large number involved. Pupils must bring their money each day for their meal. All dinners are priced at £2.60 and should provide your child with a satisfactory lunch.
Sandwiches may also be purchased from Shire Services or they can be brought from home and are also eaten in the Dining Hall. If a cold drink is also brought from home it must be in a plastic container - not glass or cans and should not be a fizzy drink.
PLEASE NOTE: Catshill Middle School is a 'nut-free' zone. Please do not include food containing nuts in packed lunches.
We are proud to partner with Shire Services to provide freshly cooked, nutritious meals prepared daily. With extensive experience in the education sector, Shire Services delivers fresh, seasonal, and sustainable food that helps our pupils stay energised and focused throughout the day.
Each day, students can choose from diverse meal options that cater to various tastes and dietary needs, featuring familiar family favourites and popular high street concepts. Throughout the school year, Shire Services also offer exciting themed day dishes.

Natasha's Law
Shire Services makes sure it complies with Natasha's Law.
Natasha's Law is the UK's Food Information Amendment, enacted in October 2021, requiring food businesses to provide full ingredient and allergen labeling on all pre-packaged food sold directly to consumers (PPDS). The law mandates that labels must include a complete list of ingredients, with the 14 major allergens clearly highlighted, to protect individuals with food allergies and intolerances. The legislation is named in memory of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who died from an allergic reaction to a baguette containing sesame seeds, a hidden allergen under the previous rules.
What the law requires
- Full ingredient list: All pre-packaged food for direct sale must have a full list of ingredients.
- Allergen highlighting: The 14 major allergens must be clearly emphasized on the label, such as in bold type.
- Applies to PPDS food: This law applies to food prepared and packaged on the same premises from which it is sold, often called "food to go," like sandwiches, salads, and cakes.
